“He didn’t scored today but he’s my own Man of the match”: Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres names ONE Arsenal teammates who deserved the Man of the match more than Declan Rice today

Posted on November 1, 2025 by Boss

Arsenal secured a fifth-straight Premier League win after a 2-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Gunners went into the game as clear frontrunners and produced a strong display as expected.

Viktor Gyokeres opened the scoring from a set-piece before Declan Rice doubled the advantage.

Gyokeres delivered a fantastic long ball to Leandro Trossard. The Belgium international subsequently made a terrific cross for Rice to head into the back of the net.

Aside from his goal, Rice was everywhere on the pitch. He had a passing accuracy of 91 percent with 94 touches. Rice won nine out of 14 duels alongside nine ball recoveries.

He also won 100 percent of his tackles (5/5) with four clearances and three interceptions. Overall, the midfielder managed 10 defensive contributions more than Gabriel.

It was a fantastic all-round showing from the England international against the Clarets, and there were no surprises that he was handed the man of the match.

Rice had a mixed start to the campaign, but his form has drastically picked up in recent weeks. The 26-year-old now appears to be in the best phase of his career.

Arsenal are presently seven points ahead of second-placed Bournemouth in the league standings, but the gap could reduce with three more fixtures left in the game week.

The Gunners’ immediate focus will turn to Tuesday’s Champions League encounter against Sparta Prague on the road. Rice may need to be extra cautious if he starts.

He has already picked up two yellow cards in the elite European competition. A booking on Tuesday evening would see him miss the game against Bayern Munich.

Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi suffered muscle injuries earlier today. The latter won’t be involved against Sparta anyway due to suspension (three yellow cards).
