JP Peace (the son of VFL Robert Peace and the grandson of Phillip Fulmer) has committed to Tennessee….

Posted on June 18, 2025 by Dre

Knoxville, TN — Former Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman has officially been named the new head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers, marking a major shift for the SEC program.

Freeman, known for his player-first approach and strong recruiting, takes over after a turbulent offseason in Knoxville that included the transfer of star quarterback Nico Iamaleava and growing concerns around NIL disputes.

At Notre Dame, Freeman built a reputation for culture and discipline, guiding the team to national contention. Tennessee hopes he’ll bring that same stability and long-term vision to a program hungry for consistent playoff relevance.

“I’m here to build something that lasts,” Freeman said in a brief statement. “Tennessee has everything it takes — we just have to align and move forward together.”

Freeman’s first tasks: restore stability, rebuild the quarterback room, and bring clarity to the program’s NIL strategy.

The new era in Rocky Top has officially begun.
