Joe Thuney Signs Two-Year Extension with Chicago Bears
Veteran offensive lineman Joe Thuney has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The new deal secures Thuney’s place on the Bears’ offensive line through the 2027 season.
Chicago acquired Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs back in March, sending a 2026 fourth-round draft pick in exchange for the three-time Super Bowl champion. At the time of the trade, Thuney had one year remaining on the five-year, $80 million deal he originally signed with the Chiefs in 2021. His contract was set to expire after the 2025 season.

Known for his durability, leadership, and elite pass protection skills, he brings a veteran presence to a unit that is undergoing significant changes. The Bears have added two new interior linemen this offseason, center Drew Dalman and guard Jonah Jackson, forming what the team hopes will be a much-improved core in the trenches.
During his time with both the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, Thuney established himself as one of the most reliable and technically sound guards in the NFL. His experience in championship environments and ability to anchor the line will be key assets for a Bears team looking to protect its young quarterback and revive its offense.
With this move, Chicago continues to emphasize strengthening its offensive line as a central part of its roster-building strategy. Thuney’s extension not only locks in a proven starter but als
