For the first time in what seems like forever, the Baltimore Ravens are going to have a new kicker.
After 13 seasons with the Ravens, Tucker was released with the NFL in the midst of an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against the seven-time Pro Bowl kicker, who has denied the allegations on multiple occasions.
“I mean, you’re talking about arguably the best kicker in the history of the game,” head coach John Harbaugh said of Tucker after the release. “And like we said, it’s multi-layered [and] it’s complicated.
“But in the end, it all comes back to what you have to do to get ready for your team to play the first game,” Harbaugh added. “And I think if you step back and you take a look at all the issues and all the ramifications, you can understand that we’ve got to get our football team ready and we’ve got to have a kicker to go. And that was the move that we decided to make.”
One Ravens player who is going to miss Tucker is cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who recently said so in a post on X.
“I just watched a victory [Instagram] live clip,” Humphrey began. “[I’m going to] miss [Justin] Tucker lowkey. Team meetings won’t be the same.”
While he received plenty of likes for his tweet, there were some fans who weren’t thrilled with it given the circumstances surrounding Tucker’s release.
“Bad tweet unc,” one reply said.
“You gotta chill,” said another fan.
With Tucker gone, the Ravens will attempt to replace him via a competition between 2025 sixth-round pick, Tyler Loop, and undrafted free agent John Hoyland.
