Canterbury Bulldogs captain and NRL star Stephen Crichton has launched a powerful new initiative aimed at transforming the lives of children with disabilities across Australia and the Pacific.

On Friday, Crichton officially unveiled the “A Hope Rising Foundation”, a non-profit organization that will focus on providing support, resources, and inclusive opportunities for children living with disabilities—particularly in underserved communities.

💬 A Vision of Inclusion and Empowerment

Crichton, known not only for his leadership on the field but also his deep community roots, says this project is about “giving every child a chance to shine.”

“Growing up, I saw first-hand how tough life can be for families with children living with disabilities—especially in Pacific Islander communities,” Crichton said.
“This foundation is about creating real change—offering hope, dignity, and support where it’s needed most.”

📌 What the Foundation Will Do

The A Hope Rising Foundation will roll out key programs including:

Free therapy and mobility resources

Disability-friendly sporting activities

Mental health and emotional support

Community outreach in Samoa, Tonga, and Western Sydney

Scholarships and educational aid for children with special needs

Crichton also plans to work with NRL clubs, local councils, and faith-based organisations to ensure the foundation’s long-term impact.

🤝 Backed by the NRL and Bulldogs

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have thrown full support behind their captain’s vision.

“We are proud of Stephen’s heart for the community,” Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton said. “He’s a leader both on and off the field, and this foundation is just another example of his character.”

NRL officials have also praised the move, calling it “a shining example of athlete-driven social change.”

🧒 “This Is Bigger Than Rugby”

Crichton emphasized that the project is deeply personal.

“Rugby league has given me a platform. Now I want to use that to be a voice for kids who often go unheard. This is bigger than rugby—it’s about purpose.”

The foundation’s first major fundraiser and awareness event is scheduled for later this year in Sydney, with all proceeds going directly toward family assistance and medical support for children.
