The Canterbury Bulldogs have continued their aggressive recruitment strategy, snatching another promising talent from a rival club — this time, it’s Mikey Nassar from the Sydney Roosters.
Following recent pickups of Aaymon Fitzgibbon and Finau Latu from the St George Illawarra Dragons, the Bulldogs have now bolstered their future stocks by bringing in Nassar, a standout from the Roosters’ SG Ball Cup premiership-winning squad earlier this year.
Before landing at Belmore, at least two other NRL clubs were reportedly in pursuit of the young gun, according to Zero Tackle. But the Bulldogs ultimately won the race for his signature.
Nassar has already been wearing blue and white for the past month, playing in the Ron Massey Cup as he continues to develop within the club’s pathways system.
A versatile back, Nassar can cover multiple positions across the backline but has mostly featured on the wing. He is a proud product of the Hill Sports High School program, which has produced numerous NRL talents over the years.
His journey hasn’t been without setbacks — before his Roosters stint, he spent time with the Balmain Tigers in the Harold Matthews Cup, only to be sidelined by a long-term injury that slowed his progress. But since returning, he’s been steadily climbing the ranks.
