**Lions Ranked One of NFL’s Most Complete Teams Heading Into 2025**
The Lions might’ve gone through a lot of changes this offseason, but their roster is still getting plenty of love heading into the 2025 NFL season. According to a new NFL.com ranking, Detroit was named the **third-most complete team** in the league—only the Eagles and Ravens ranked higher.
This offseason, the Lions clearly had defense on their mind. Their biggest free-agent grab was **cornerback D.J. Reed**, and they added **Tyleik Williams**, a big-time defensive tackle, in the first round of the draft. They’re also getting a bunch of key players back from injury, with **Aidan Hutchinson** leading the pack.
NFL.com’s Eric Edholm says the defense is about to level up just by getting healthy, plus the new additions help across the board—Reed and **Avonte Maddox** bolster the secondary, and the linebackers are looking solid when everyone’s healthy.
On offense, the Lions are stacked with weapons for **Jared Goff**. Even with a new offensive coordinator (**John Morton**), the unit should hum thanks to a strong O-line and playmakers like **Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta**.
Goff had one of his best regular seasons last year, though it ended in a rough playoff loss to Washington. Still, he’s been to two Pro Bowls in the last three years. His O-line is mostly intact, and with **Gibbs and David Montgomery** forming one of the NFL’s best backfield duos, there’s no shortage of firepower. Rookie receiver **Isaac TeSlaa** is also someone to watch.
Big picture: Detroit looks ready to chase a Super Bowl. GM **Brad Holmes** has built such a deep team that they might end up cutting quality players before the season starts. Edholm even predicts other teams will be quick to scoop up Lions players after final roster cuts.
That said, the team isn’t flawless—there are still battles for starting spots, especially at guard and edge rusher opposite Hutchinson. And there’s a little concern about whether the pass rush has enough juice. Still, this team is loaded, and the NFL is taking notice.
