Aaron Rodgers has kept the Pittsburgh Steelers in uncertainty this offseason by delaying his decision to either join the team or retire. The Steelers currently do not have a clear starting quarterback. They have Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, both of whom have started NFL games, and they recently drafted Will Howard from Ohio State in the sixth round. However, Howard is unlikely to be ready to start in Week 1 despite turning 24 early in the season.
Due to the unclear quarterback situation and Rodgers’ indecision, Moe Moton of Bleacher Report suggested that the Steelers should consider trading for Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis. Regardless of Rodgers’ choice, Pittsburgh should offer a fourth-round pick for Levis. Rodgers will turn 42 in December and is likely to play on a year-to-year basis. Levis has two years left on his rookie contract.
If the Steelers finish the 2025 season with an average record and Rodgers stays for only one year, they would still have Levis, a young and experienced quarterback, to develop for the future. Over seven seasons, Mason Rudolph has been more of a game manager, while 25-year-old Levis has shown more potential with his strong arm and mobility.
Levis was an early second-round pick by the Titans in the 2023 NFL Draft and has two years left on his rookie contract worth $9.5 million, running through 2026. So far, he has thrown for nearly 3,900 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions in 21 games with a 5-16 record across two seasons.
